There are many search engines online. You likely already have a favorite, whether it be Google, Bing, Yahoo, or one of many others. Some search engines, like Google, allow for an array of advanced search options, or scholarly search options. These advanced search options can considerably narrow your results on a search. Google's advanced search is available from their main search page, or here: http://www.google.com/advanced_search
Google's "Google Scholar" limits search results to scholarly articles, and allows export of citations when compiling your bibliography. http://scholar.google.com/
One search engine that is different from the rest is Wolfram Alpha. Wolfram Alpha is a "computational knowledge engine."
